Carolina wolf spider
Can bite or stingHogna carolinensis
What does Carolina wolf spider look like?
A large, robust, hairy brown spider — the biggest North American wolf spider — with a dark underside. It doesn't build a web but hunts on the ground; females carry their egg sac and then their young on the back.
Is Carolina wolf spider dangerous?
Not dangerous — a shy ground hunter that bites only if handled, and the bite is no worse than a bee sting. Its size alarms people more than it should.
What should I do about Carolina wolf spider?
