SpecieSense is for nature education and curiosity. Identifications are informational and may be incorrect. Never rely on it to decide whether any plant, mushroom, animal or other organism is edible, medicinal, poisonous, venomous, allergenic or otherwise safe to touch, eat or use. Misidentification can cause serious harm or death. Always consult a qualified expert before acting on an identification.
Using the service
You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction and use the service lawfully. You're responsible for the content you upload and confirm you have the right to upload it.
Accounts & plans
Some features require an account and a paid plan. Quotas reset monthly. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are handled by our payment processor acting as merchant of record; your purchase is also subject to their terms at checkout.
Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel anytime from your account, and you'll keep access until the end of the current billing period. Because the service is digital and delivered immediately, payments are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started, except where a refund is required by law (including any mandatory consumer or withdrawal rights that apply where you live). If something has gone wrong, contact us at support@speciesense.com and we'll deal with it fairly.
Your content
You keep all rights to the photos you upload. You grant us a limited licence to host, process and display them solely to provide the service to you — for example, to run the identification and show your history. We don't claim ownership of your photos and don't use them for advertising.
Our intellectual property
The service, including its software, design, branding and content (other than your uploads and third-party data), belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service. In particular, don't use it unlawfully; don't upload content you have no right to or that is illegal; don't attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service; and don't resell or redistribute it without our permission.
Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect the service, our users or third parties. You can stop using the service and close your account at any time.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that any identification is accurate, complete or fit for any purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpecieSense is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service or any identification it produces. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot be excluded under the consumer laws that apply to you.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified through the service. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
