What does Hobo spider look like?
A fast-running brown spider with a faint herringbone/chevron pattern on the abdomen and long, evenly-colored legs. Builds funnel-shaped webs low down. Found in the Pacific Northwest US and Europe.
Is Hobo spider dangerous?
Once blamed for necrotic bites, but current evidence finds it is not dangerously venomous to people. Bites are uncommon and usually minor.
Commonly confused with
- Giant house spider — very similar and harmless
- Brown recluse — different range, with a violin mark and six eyes
